Thanks to our friends in Central Oregon who overcame “record snowfall” to attend the Central Oregon Sportsmen’s Show presented by Leupold. And thanks to the support of the community and fairgrounds staff, mountains of snow were moved so we could have show.

For those that made the trip to Redmond  it was a wonderful show. The Cowboy Fast Draw proved to be a hit along with the addition of the Oregon Bow Hunters State Indoor Archery Shoot. In spite of the snow, RV dealers brought hundreds of RV’s to the grounds and by Saturday with parking lots filled with cars and the grounds filled with show-goers, RV sales were strong. Boats, ATV’s, guided fishing trips and hunts, knick-knacks, custom furniture, tackle and snacks all proved to be popular items.

Plans are underway for next year’s show. Expect to see new features along with re-tooled and updated popular favorites. With later dates for the 2020 show we’re hopeful weather will not be a factor, having that much snow was a one-in-118 year event, so we have some time before it happens again. Check back later this year for updates to the website and show. Thank you!

Check out these highlights — there’s a lot to get excited about in attending this year’s show. Be sure to check out the Reasons To Attend under “Attractions” for more highlights. Of course, nothing beats just going and seeing it all firsthand. See you at the show!

For 2019, expect to see a number of new features, like the State Indoor Archery Tournament, State Elk Calling Championships and Walleye Alley, along with a several returning favorites including the Cowboy Fast Draw, Outdoor Cook Tent and Kid’s Trout Pond.

The Central Oregon Sportsmen’s Show is pleased to welcome James Beard award-winning chef and wild game expert, Hank Shaw to this year’s show.  Shaw’s a popular cookbook author who draws a crowd wherever he goes.  Central Oregon is a favorite destination for Shaw so he’ll be right at home sharing new recipes and ideas for cooking wild game every day of the show.  For seminar times, please click here.

Also new to this year’s show is the addition of the Oregon Bow Hunters annual State Indoor Archery Tournament and Convention along with the Oregon State Elk Calling Championship. The archery tournament runs every day of the show. The Elk Calling Championship is slated for Saturday, March 2nd with the preliminaries starting at 11 AM and the finals scheduled for 2 PM. Another newcomer to the Central Oregon Sportsmen’s Show is Walleye Alley. Just added this year, this feature includes a 5,000 gallon portable fish tank filled with several impressive walleye and the tackle and information needed to catch them. Walleye Willie will be giving seminars on how-to catch Columbia River walleye and Bi-Mart will have the tackle needed available for purchase close-by. This particular feature in previous shows this year has been a huge hit.

This year’s Central Oregon Sportsmen’s Show seminar line-up is better than ever with names like Scott Haugen, Walleye Willie and Arnie Gidlow headlining, along with local favorites Gary Lewis, Blake Miller and John Garrison.  There’s something for everyone from beginner to advanced anglers, hunters and outdoor enthusiasts with dozens of seminars daily.  Blake Miller’s Wilderness Survival seminar is a must-attend for anyone spending time outdoors and off-road.  Geoff Wallaston’s Routine and Basic Boat Maintenance can save you time, money and frustration in servicing your boat.  The good folks from Tumalo Creek Kayak can get you started kayak fishing while Ryan Sparks demonstrates the tactics and techniques necessary in catching hard-fighting smallmouth bass.  And if you’re considering taking your horses on an extended adventure, you can trust the guidance you’ll gain from the experts at Steen Wilderness Adventures and their seminars on horse and mule packing techniques.

The Cowboy Fast Draw returns to the Central Oregon Sportsmen’s Show bigger and better than ever! Shooters compete against each other to see who can hit the target first using pistols loaded with wax bullets.  It’s great fun and free with admission into the show.  Special thanks to the Crooked River Rangers, Oregon’s only Cowboy Fast Draw Club, for their support in providing the onsite experts to oversee everyone shooting.

Baxter Auto Parts Kid’s Trout Pond is back and will be loaded with willing trout ready to be caught by kids 12 and younger.  There’s a two fish limit and all the gear needed is provided.  Kids never know what’s going to bite but the trout are thick and feisty with a few that will tip the scales in excess of 5 pounds and even bigger! The trout pond is one of the memories kids carry with them their entire lives and the experience has been responsible for firing the enthusiasm of kids to get out and fish more after they’ve felt the tug of a trout in this venerable pool.  Thanks to Baxter Auto Parts, the Kid’s Trout Pond is free with admission into the show.

Billed as “a show within the show”, the RV and boat sale has become a popular feature with hundreds of RV’s and dozens of boats making their way to the Deschutes County Fair & Events Center. RV and boat shoppers are afforded the opportunity to see a variety of models side-by-side and enjoy the show savings that includes Selco Credit Union’s on-site financing and special show-only rates. It’s a rare four day opportunity that makes boat and RV shopping easy and effective.

“Sportsmen’s Shows” host a mix of fishing, hunting and outdoor recreation with emphasis given to fishing and hunting interests.  The Central Oregon Sportsmen’s Show, entering its 20th year, has more than 300 exhibits housed in nearly 250,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor display space with literally miles of aisles to wander, shop, learn and enjoy.  In addition to everything associated with northwest fishing and hunting, from ducks, moose, elk and upland game birds to salmon, walleye and kokanee, there’s a dizzying variety of boats, RV’s, ATV’s, hunting and fishing products, wildlife art, apparel, boating accessories, trucks, resorts and lodges, clubs, destinations, and guides and outfitters from locally and around the world.  Virtually every imaginable category of hunting and fishing is represented at the Central Oregon Sportsmen’s Show.

Last year’s “After 4PM” admission special has been extended this year to be half price for adults and juniors.  After 4 PM the $12 adult ticket is reduced to $6, and the $5 junior ticket (6-16) is $2.50.  Kid’s 5 and under are free.  Parking’s always free.
