With spring on the horizon it’s a perfect time to get ready for another year of fabulous fishing, hunting and outdoor recreation! Central Oregon’s largest sportsmen’s show, and first of the season boat and RV sale, comes to the area only once-a-year for 4 BIG days, March 7th-10th, 2024 at the First Interstate Bank Center and Deschutes County Fair and Expo Center in Redmond.   3. The Kid’s Free Trout Pond. The Kids Free Trout Pond returns to the Central Oregon Sportsmen’s Show stocked to the gills (pun entirely intended) with fat, frisky rainbow trout.  It’s FREE for kids 12 and younger and everything you need is provided including a plastic bag to take your trout (up to two) home.  Of course, if you want to put it back after catching it, your child can do that too, but you’re welcome to take them home for a trout dinner.  Many a fishing career started at this iconic pond — we even have a few in our office that got their start fishing at the Kids Free Trout Pond!
  4. RV’s and trailers! If you’re shopping RV’s this is the place to go! This is, without a doubt, the largest RV sale to hit Central Oregon in some time. There are acres of RV’s on display and for sale. Shop and compare, side-by-side, it’s a wonderful opportunity to see a lot of different units, from a variety of local dealers, in one place.
  5. Boat Sale! It’s a boat show too! Fishing boats, pontoons, drift boats, wakeboard and surf boats and pleasure craft will be in-stock and on sale from the area’s top dealers all in one place. Get a jump on spring and summer fun and buy where price and selection are best.  4 days only!
  6. A mountain of sausages…from Hill Meat Co. We’re proud to feature Hill Meat Co., as the purveyor of our hot dogs and sausages.  They’re based in Pendleton, an Oregon company through-and-through, and we’re excited to have them back to the Central Oregon Sportsmen’s Show.  And they are oh-so-yummy…trust us, we’ve had plenty of them! Nothing says “Sportsmen’s Show” quite like a beer and a brat!
  7. Addicted Fishing. On Saturday, from 1:00PM-4:30PM the crew from Addicted Fishing comes to the Central Oregon Sportsmen’s Show to host their Mega-Bash and the premiere of their movie, “Steelhead Alley”.  This is a ticketed event and tickets are on sale at: https://addicted.fishing/collections/event-tickets
  8. Head & Horns above the rest. The Head and Horns Competition returns to the Central Oregon Sportsmen’s Show looking for the next record.   If you have a set of horns, antlers, a bear or cougar skull or turkey beard that you’d like measured and scored this is the place to bring it.  Our certified measurers will measure and score your trophy for $30.  With that, you’re automatically entered into the competition! The prizes in this year’s competition are amazing and there are LOTS of categories to enter.   9. Wall of Kings. The Wall of Kingsis one of the most impressive trophy displays to be found anywhere on the planet! It’s a collection of big game mounts that will amaze any deer hunter. It’s truly a collection of some bodacious and beautiful animals and they’re all from the Northwest!  And appropriately, you’ll find this world-class display close to the Head & Horns Competition.
  10. Attend some seminars. Columbia River walleye, mule deer hunting, waterfowling, kokanee fishing, advanced coyote calling, E-scouting, Central Oregon lake trout and DIY hunts are some of the seminars you can look forward to at this year’s show.  The Central Oregon Sportsmen’s Show is a wonderful opportunity to connect with experts, learn, and then use what you’ve learned over the next few months.  All seminars are free with admission into the show.

  19. Alaska fishing. Is this the year you make your dream of fishing Alaska a reality? Some of Alaska’s very best are at the show. Petersburg, in S.E. Alaska is a remarkable destination and home to world-class fishing, so is Sitka! Then there’s the Nushagak on the west side, it’s always a very good bet for kings, silvers and chum salmon.   22. Richy Harrod. We’re thrilled to have Richy at this year’s show.  An expert hunter and fisherman, he’s the host of the popular TV show, The Northwest Outdoorsmen.  Richy’s also an acclaimed wild game cook.  Be sure to check out his Sportsmen’s Show workshops and stop by his booth for tips and information to improve your NW hunting, fishing and outdoor cooking experience.  And if you’re in the market for a kokanee rod, Richy’s produced a beauty with the help of Bob Loomis…they’ll be at the show for sale.
  23. Go to Africa. That’s right Africa!   25. Get into the backcountry. ATV’s are a great way to access the backcountry.  There are ATV’s-a-plenty at the show with Midstate Power Sports, Power Edge Motor Sports, Central Oregon Side-By-Side and Pro Caliber Motorsports all displaying.  Just sit in one and you’ll know you’re in for the ride of your life!
  26. C. Hunts. Moose, bear, goat and wolf are all available through Nadina Outfitters.  Go where the game is.   If you’ve been dreaming of that once-in-a-lifetime trip now’s the year!
  27. The roar of whitewater. Book a raft trip at the show! There are some excellent choices …talk to them, pick a river you want to experience and get it on the books. Make it a summer to remember!
  28. Hit the target. Central Cascades Archery is at the show and they’ll be stocked and ready to get you dialed in for next season.  There’s a lot going on in archery these days and Central Cascades Archery is on top of it all.   
  29. Need a building? Pole buildings, steel buildings, big, bigger or modestly-sized for whatever you need to keep safe and secure.   30. New Zealand. Arguably one of the most beautiful and productive hunting and fishing destinations on the planet.  Interested in going?   37. Destination getaways. Even for us locals, it’s hard to believe how little we really know about close-by places. The Dalles is certainly one of them.  So much to do, see and experience.  Whether for a day, weekend or week, The Dalles is great getaway, just talk to Explore The Dalles for a sample of what’s waiting there for you.  Same for Mercer Lake Resort. Another hidden gem that plays host to an incredible array of world-class pursuits.  Then there’s Travel Pendleton, plenty to do there too. Outdoor Cooking Competition! The first-ever Central Oregon Sportsmen’s Show Outdoor Cooking Competition is set for this year’s show.  Top outdoor cooks from across U.S. will be competing in this competition for important points needed to qualify for national and international championships. It’s one day, all-day Sunday with a focus on Dutch Oven cooking. Bread, main course and dessert are the three challenges of this competition. This is a first-ever event and an opportunity to get started with Dutch ovens or hone your already prodigious skills with advice from the best! A Sportsmen’s show never smelled so good!

 

Oregon Bow Hunters. The Central Oregon Sportsmen’s Show would like to extend a warm welcome to the Oregon Bow Hunters who will be holding their indoor State Indoor Archery Shoot at the show! Dozens of archers will be at the show with their eye trained on the bullseye.

It’s a boat show too! It’s a show within a show! One of the things that makes these shows so much fun is the diversity of things to see and do. Several boat dealers are coming to town and adding to the long list of things to see and buy. If you’re in the market for a boat, you’ll strike your best deal here.

 

Traeger. That one word just about says it all.  Traeger will be displaying at this year’s show. Traeger grills have become the standard in backyard BBQing and smoking everywhere.  Traeger will have table-top and porch grills for sale at the show ranging in price from $300-$1,200.  Campers may want to check out the Scout and Tailgater, both will be on display at the show. B.C. Hunts. Moose, bear, goat and wolf are all available through Nadina Outfitters in beautiful British Columbia.  Go where the game is.

 

The call of the wild. If you’ve spent any time at all around the sportsmen’s show then you’ve heard the chorus of calls.  It’s one of our trademark identifiers. Elk calls, turkey, predator calls, scents and attractants for fish and game…they’re not hard to find if you listen. Thwackit Outdoors will be selling Phelps Calls and Bendable Products.  Stop by Kristy Titus’ booth/Pursue The Wild…you’ll find more choices there.  Thankfully, you’ll have to look for the scents…we keep those bottled up.

 

Looking for a gunsmith? We’re excited to have two first class gunsmiths at this year’s show! Oregunsmithing (great name!) and Stay Center LLC (another great name!) will both be sharing their expertise and offering the full spectrum of gunsmithing needs.

 

The roar of whitewater. We’re thrilled to have River Trails Rafting and Canyon Outfitters at this year’s show. It’s your opportunity to set-up a whitewater trip on the Deschutes River or Snake River in Hells Canyon.  Nothing like the roar of whitewater to get your adrenalin pumping and soul energized…and all done safely with expert guides. Also, Recretec will be at the show with their frames and rafts.  If you’re in the market for either, you’ll want to make a stop at their display.  River Trails also offers raft rentals.

 

Hit the target. Interested in archery? You’ll find some great names and products at the Central Oregon Sportsmen’s Show.  Annihilator Broadheads, Central Cascades Archery, Kudupoint USA, North American Hunting Competitions and Pacific Bow Targets all have booths at the show.  Pacific Bow Targets will have an archery simulator you can try your hand at, and their 3D targets are the rage…see for yourself.

 

Make fire. Stop by Quick Fire, Rogue Limited or Strike Master Survival Tools displays and check out their fire starters.  At the Central Oregon Sportsmen’s Show we give you choices!

 

E-Bikes. They’ve been uber-popular and a bit difficult to find.  Spencer Aircraft is bringing their collapsible e-bikes to the show for sale.  Great for drift boaters, RVers and campers, they don’t take much space, are light, easy-to-handle and scoot right along.

 

Need a building? Pole buildings, steel buildings, big, bigger or modestly-sized for whatever you need to keep safe and secure.  If you’re in the market you can talk to FOUR companies in ONE place.  Central Oregon Pole Buildings, NW Green Panels, RMAC Pole Buildings and Web Steel Buildings are all at the show this year.  It’s a great place to start a building conversation.

 

Out-of-state hunts. Lots of options at this year’s Central Oregon Sportsmen’s Show.  Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Utah and Wyoming are all represented.  There may be others too, hunting them down is half the fun!

Kristy Titus.  Be sure to check-in with local hunting phenom, accomplished shooter and gun rights advocate, Kristy Titus.  She’s the host of online program, Pursue The Wild, which covers a wide range of hunting activities, gear, shooting tips and more.  Her YouTube channel has nearly 250 videos and it’s growing quickly every month.  Kristy will also be showcasing her signature jewelry at the show.  It’s as unique as it is stunningly beautiful.

 

Canning and preserving. Accomplished competitive Dutch oven cook Debra Basque, shares her deep knowledge of canning and preserving a variety of foods Thursday, Friday and Saturday of the show.  Meats, fish and full meals…she’ll show you how.  You’ll find seminar times under the Outdoor Cooking seminars.

 

Up, up and away! …In a beautiful balloon! If you’ve never taken a balloon ride it’s a singularly unique experience and one of those “must-do” bucket-list items.  I’ll Fly Away Balloon Adventures is at this year’s show and they’ll be booking trips that will take you to new heights over Central Oregon.

 

Charter some fun! Pacific Fin Charters (Westport, WA) and Pacific Salmon Charters (Illwaco, WA) will both be booking trips for summer and fall.  Recent forecasts point to some pretty hot fishing for salmon, halibut, bottom fish, tuna and sturgeon.  Book early for what should be a blistering summer of fishing fun!

 

Get in the spirit! Or “spirits” as it were.  There are a few noteworthy distillers who will have booths at this year’s show, including: 503 Distilling, Just Rum, Pilot House Distilling and Wild Roots.
