Terry Rudnick

Washington Fishing

An enthusiastic and energetic speaker, Terry Rudnick has for many years given seminars and workshops on a wide variety of angling topics for sports organizations and consumer shows throughout the western United States.

Terry grew up fishing the lakes, streams and ponds within bicycling range of his home in Orting, Washington, and has lived within a few miles of Puget Sound his entire life. Although Terry has fished throughout the western United States and Canada, the angling opportunities available in the Evergreen State always bring him home to the waters he’s known for more than 60 years. Since selling his first magazine article in 1971, he has shared his fishing knowledge in hundreds of feature articles and news stories published in national and regional publications. Along the way he has earned numerous writing and photography awards, including the National Conservationist of the Year Communications Award from Trout Unlimited.

Besides his popular book, Washington Fishing, now in its seventh edition, Terry is the author of Washington Boating and Water Sports (2000) and co-author of Pacific Northwest Fishing (2012) and How to Catch Trophy Halibut 1996).

While maintaining his freelance writing/speaking/photography career over the past four decades, Rudnick also found time to work 25 years for the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife and Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission, retiring from state service in 2013.

Terry Rudnick, outdoor writer, photographer and speaker since 1971, specializing in Pacific Northwest freshwater and saltwater fishing. I’ll be giving seminars on winter blackmouth fishing in Puget Sound and halibut fishing prospects for 2018 at the Washington Sportsmen’s Show, January 24-28.

The first rule of blackmouth fishing: Find the bait schools and you’ll find the salmon!
