Mark enjoys sport of fishing so much, that wants to “give back to
sport” by helping others. By helping both novice fisherpersons and
seasoned anglers learn to be successful in a given fishery, they will
get out more often enjoying the sport. Hopefully, they will also take
their wives and children too. It is important for another reason too.
Because if they enjoy it, the current and future generations will
support local, state and federal efforts to improve fishing opportunities
in the Pacific Northwest.
Mark grew up in Buffalo, NY and learned to fish from his grandfather.
They fished for trout, perch, pike, walleye and bass. As Mark grew
older, he spent a lot time hiking in the Adirondack Mountains and
fishing some of the legendary places of “eastern trout fishing lore”.
He moved to Seattle in 1979 and quickly became “hooked” on salmon
and steelhead fishing. Mark is an accomplished salmon and
steelhead angler and has fished extensively in Washington State,
British Columbia and Alaska. During this time he has caught many
salmon and steelhead, including two kings over 50 pounds while
fishing in his own boat.
Mark also gives back to the sport in other ways. He has worked on a
number of enhancement projects, fishing derbies and is a very active
in a number of fishing clubs. He has conducted fishing seminars at
the club meetings, at retailers’ stores and events. He also routinely
attends and testifies at Fisheries Meetings throughout the PNW.
Additionally, is former member of WDFW Steelhead and Anadromous
Trout Advisory Group.
He is an active member in the following Puget Sound Anglers
Chapters: Auburn, Eastside, Renton and South King County. He is
also an active member of the Issaquah Sportsmen’s Club, Mt. SI Fish
and Game Club and Steelhead Trout Club of Washington.
